The Amazon decision to present Android tablet with an incredibly low price of $199 meant that many PC vendors wonder if they should continue to work on Android tablets or switch to Windows 8. Dell and HP have decided to choose the Windows platform as the base for their future tablets and they already started working on new devices.
As reported by DigiTimes, the first Tablet PC with Windows 8 from Dell, HP and other vendors of PC would occur in the third quarter of 2012. The decision to select the Windows 8 platform as the base for tablets in the case of Dell is a bit surprising, previously the company presented a few tablets with Android, including the Dell Streak, Streak 7, or Streak 10 Pro. In the case of HP, the choice seems to be Windows 8 as consequence of killing webOS platform and HP TouchPad.
Amazon made life harder not only for Apple, but also to producers of tablets with Android. Low price of the device meant that many producers will not be able to afford the cheap edition of Android tablet, which would compete with the Kindle Fire. In the case of more expensive tablet with Android, it is logical that it could not achieve commercial success, thanks to prices comparable to the iPad. Were Android tablet manufacturers pinned to the wall?
The company ASUSTek and Acer apparently still remain with Android. While, the Chinese Lenovo is going to focus on the tablet with Android for business, like the Dell tablet with Windows 8 for business.
